Software - Open Source - Shareware - Freeware

Open Source

If you've ever used the internet, you've used open source software! Indeed, everyone involved in sending emails or using the Web may likely be using Open Source Software (OSS). Linux, Netscape and Apache are some of the most popular open source operating systems. But what exactly does Open Source mean?

Open Source Systems are software created and maintained by software developers and made available for free to individuals, institutions and organizations.

The non-profit organization Open Source Initiative is dedicated to managing and promoting the Open Source Definition for the good of the community.

Today the ASP is a vibrant organization with hundreds of members around the world working together to improve their businesses and making it easier for computer users to find quality software at reasonable prices.”
