Campus Safety Grant
Western is committed to providing a safe study and work environment for our campus community.
Since 1991, the Ministry of Colleges and Universities has provided grants to colleges and universities to support initiatives that will make campuses safer. This is part of an ongoing commitment to prevent sexual violence and support other safety efforts on college and university campuses.
Specifically, the Campus Safety Grant is intended to:
- Help offset the costs related to the prevention of all forms of violence against students, faculty and staff on campus
- Support initiatives that will educate and inform students about campus safety issues including sexual and gender-based violence.
Gender Safety Grant Committee
The Gender Safety Grant Committee (GSGC), previously known as the Women’s Safety Committee, is a presidential standing committee. The GSGC is responsible for the adjudication of proposals eligible for funding from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities’ Campus Safety Grant.
Grant Program
Eligible organizations/groups on campus may apply to the Gender Safety Grant Committee for a portion of the funds awarded to 成人大片 from the Ministry. The funds must be used for initiatives that continue to improve the safety on campus for all students and employees. Those initiatives would support safety, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence. The funding can be used to continue current activities, support off-shoots of these, or begin new initiatives that ensure that safety issues continue to be addressed in the future.
Eligibility
To be considered for funding, organizations/groups must meet the following criteria:
- Be a recognized organization/group from within 成人大片's community (i.e., USC, SOGS or Faculty/Units that have direct interaction with our vulnerable population).
- Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and the ability to deliver the proposal on time and on budget
- Comply with the Ontario Human Rights Code and anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policies existing at Western
